SIPS panels are manufactured with either polystyrene or polyurethane foam sandwiched between two layers of OSB plywood.  HCTF is a certified SIPS panel installer and has been designing and building using SIPS panels for over 15 years.

Some of the benefits of building with SIPS include:

*Lower Energy Bills :  An estimated 15% to 40% less energy is needed to heat and cool a home with SIPS wall and ceiling panels, compared to conventional stick-built construction.

*Improved Comfort and Indoor Air Quality:   The continuous plywood (OSB) layers create an air barrier and the foam insulation offers an effective thermal barrier.  These features allow home owners to accurately control the indoor temperature of their home as well as the quality of the air that enters their home.

*Green Building Product:   Utilizing SIPS in the envelope of a home qualifies the home for points toward green certifications (including LEED, NC Healthy Built Homes and NAHB Green Building Certification)
